Outcome—Lion King teacher gifts
Wow, what a show—our kiddos were absolutely incredible last night!! If you missed the first show, I hope you are able to catch it tonight!
Thank you all SO much for your generous contributions for a group gift for our fabulous teachers—Ms Beckman, Ms. Sonia, Mrs. Hussey, and Mrs. Iozzo—who poured so much time and energy into this amazing production.
The cast will present these gifts at the end of tonight’s performance. Each teacher will receive a dozen roses and gift cards to Bagel World, Professors Market, and VISA (to spend anywhere), and added a little extra for Ms. Beckman—a Starbucks gift card too.
Thank you again for your generosity!

Lion King Jr.—teacher’s gifts
Hello 5th grade parents!
As the Lion King Jr. performance dates approach, I wanted to reach out and offer to put together “thank you” gifts for our teachers, Ms. Beckman, Ms. Sonia, Mrs. Hussey, and Mrs. Iozzo, who have been so generous with their talents and time over the past few months.
If you would like to contribute, please let me know by Wednesday, 3/26. Venmo me (@Megan-Schwint — phone last four digits are 7571) or if you prefer cash, email/text me and we can meet up at Killam. Participation is completely optional, there is no required contribution and any amount contributed is great.
We will present these gifts at the cast party after the final show on Saturday. I hope your kiddos have enjoyed this experience, it’s been such a great opportunity for them all.
Thank you!
Megan Schwint (Ellie’s mom) and Denise Dias (Pedro’s mom)

Ps: I know there are some 4th graders also participating in the show, but I don’t have access to email their grade—please feel free to forward this message!

PTO volunteer opportunity
Good morning and happy new year!
The PTO is looking for volunteers, please see below.
Hi Killam families,
The PTO is looking for volunteers for two big events coming up. Please let me know, or contact Vanessa Curry (killamptopresidents@gmail.com) if you are interested or would like more information.
1. Parent's Night out (March/April) - this is a fun night out for Killam parents, and one of our big fundraisers that allows us to have so many events and field trips for the kids all year long! We are looking for one or two people to lead the committee of volunteers to help plan this event.
2. Mathnasium (3/12, 6-730pm) - we need 25 volunteers to help staff the game tables, volunteers can be parents, high school, or middle school students. Mathnasium provides instruction on how to play each game and no experience is necessary. Please use this SignUp Genius to register.
Thank you in advance for your help in making these events successful!

Holiday Gift and PTO info
Thank you all for your generous donations towards Ms. Flaherty's gift. If you haven't contributed and would like to, there's still time. We will be putting the gift together at the end of this week.
Also, the PTO is running a RaiseRight campaign where you buy physical (and in most cases electronic) gift cards, and Killam PTO gets a kickback on the purchase. Attached is a flyer that explains it a bit more, all physical gift cards have to be ordered by 12/11 in order to have time to process them ahead of the holidays.
Thank you so much!
Jen & Laurie

Ms. Flaherty’s Class Updated email with information about the book fair
Hello Everyone,
I am Laurie Manzo, Jen Vogelzang and I will be the room parents for Ms. Flaherty’s classroom this year. We wanted to keep you informed of a few activities and reminders as we start the school year.
1. Membership Toolkit: Please Register for the Membership Toolkit. If you have not already registered or are aware of families that are missing information, let them know about the Membership Toolkit. Registering is essential to receiving important information from the PTO and automatically provides everyone with a class directory. See the attached flyer for instructions on how to sign up.
2. Some of you may be registered in the Membership Toolkit but have not updated your child’s teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. If you have not selected Ms. Flaherty’s 5th grade class, you will not receive messages through the app.
To update, log into Membership Toolkit
On the top left, click the drop down and go all the way down to “My Account”
Click “Your Family Information”
Click “Next Step” to see student info and select your child’s teacher from the dropdown menu. Save preferences.
This will only take a minute!
3. Attend a PTO Meeting: Learn about upcoming events and how you can support Killam. The next PTO meeting is 10/22 at 7pm in the Killam media room.
4. Scholastic Book Fair: Ms. Flaherty's class is scheduled to attend the Book Fair on Friday, October 18 at 8:30 AM.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Killam Tuesday, October 15th through Friday, October 18th (with evening hours until 6pm on Wednesday October 16th).
Volunteers are needed to help make our Book Fair a success! We need adults to help the students find the perfect book and to offer a helping hand. If you've ever wanted to work in a bookstore, now's your chance!
If you have some time to help at the Book Fair, either during our class time, with the set-up next Thursday October 10th after school, or with breakdown on Friday October 18th after school, please sign-up through the Sign-Up Genius:
Book Fair Volunteer Sign-Up
Please note: All volunteers need to have a current CORI on file (good for 3 years). Please stop by the main office this week to complete the form if you have not done so already.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you and have a wonderful school year,
Jen Vogelzang and Laurie Manzo
